Just remember to use the park brake when not being towed or it could roll away even in Park.

Was reading through my manual. Sure enough it's there in section 2, Page 30. It describes how to put the transfer case in Neutral.
Thats true enough for the guys that have shiftable transfer cases..

Wonder about the guys with the non-shiftable (Olds Bravada, Saab 9-7x, Buick Rainier), or the 2wd?

In the owners manual, it specifically states no flat towing the 2 wd version.

Probably not the AWD's either as one can't disconnect the transfer case by putting it in neutral.

Be sure that when you tow in the Neutral position on the transfer case, that you put the transmission in PARK.

GM transmissions can be towed short distances .... less that 5 miles was always the gold standard, and less than 35 MPH.

In PARK, the transmission rotating parts won't spin.

Since modern transmissions don't have rear pumps, they will run dry ... damaging expensive parts.
