Recently the marines stopped the R&D testing for the CH-46E, which meant ours was going to one of the 3 places. Boneyard, Museum, or to the civilian world. The base decided to add it to their assortment of a/c on display at the museum so we got to tow it to its final resting spot.
Patuxent River Naval Air Museum Accepts Retired CH-46E - Southern Maryland News
Interesting towing a helicopter down the road with traffic, we did manage to smack a few tree limbs on the way over and we cleared the traffic light pole by what looked like 1/2". We figured the pictures would make it to the base paper, not one of the local news sites. Still pretty cool to do it as contractors as the NAVY usually has their guys take care of it. It was definitely one of my favorite aircraft to learn on.
PS I am the guy on the far left in the last picture.
