Just picked this up.

That's pretty killer. I was hoping Rock Island Armory had some relation to the Rock Island Arsenal which I used to live about a half-hour drive away from, but unfortunately it just looks like a random name to me. :frown:

Rock Island Armory is designed and made by Armscor USA. The guns are made in the Philippines and distributed by Armscor in Nevada.

Yeah, that's what I found out when I used Le Google. Disappointing, I was hoping it would have some sort of connection with the Arsenal.

Anyone remember when the news started yammering on about how HMMWV vehicles deployed in Op. Iraqi Freedom and related operations had those shoddy unarmored doors? I recall a local story about RIA being the first facility to begin production of the Armor Survivability Kit for the M998 HMMWV. They had partnered up with Anniston Army Depot, I believe ANAD was doing the fitting on the HMMWVs as RIA is the only Army-owned foundry left and thus has the equipment onsite for metalworking of this sort.

Eventually a contractor stepped up with an ASK solution that was 25% lighter.

Those who served probably remember the doors jamming more than anything. The doors also came with a set of driving instructions as the initial 1000-pound kits altered driving characteristics and acceptable turning radii at higher speeds.

Armor can be just as interesting as firearms sometimes

That is sweet. Getting out today to shoot the rock island and a couple other I got in the last couple of months I haven't shot yet.

And on another slightly related topic I will be picking up a Bowtech Insanity tonight to add to the bow collection.

Not sure who it was on here but I have a 9mm AR Barrel for a Spikes Tactical pistol and two magazines (older) that I need to get rid of.

Can't believe I never posted a picture of my zombie first aid kit.

Keep us informed if you get the issue with the ejecting and locking up they were having when they first came out. Don't know if they ever fixed that or not.

If you are referring to the lock out with the action release. Yes that seems to be corrected in the 2nd gens. I'm going to put a couple cases thru it next week. Should be a change from reloading the single barrel BT99.

Started to get some stuff in still looks like a Frankenstein gun Still need a trigger, trigger gaurd and buttstock probably going to change my color fill too but idk I love my orange panther. Also found the AR-10 I will be buying. I shoot a DPMS Oracle 5.56 and will be shooting the DPMS Oracle 7.62. I see them just like cars I dont believe in buying the Mercedes I believe in buying the blank canvas and upgrading and learning through the process. Hopefully should have that in the next couple of weeks already called and found an FFL transfer in STL going to buy my 1st offline.

The 7.62 DPMS rifle is not an AR-10. The DPMS model is the LR-308. The original AR-10 and LR-308 use different magazines. The AR-10B is compatible with the DPMS mags.

Just a heads up so you don't buy a case of magazines that won't work with your rifle.

I think there are other differences between the AR-10 and LR-308 guns too, so perform your due diligence when purchasing parts.

http://megaarms.com/maten/compatibility/
That link talks about compatibility with the MATEN receivers from Mega. It illustrates the parts issues between the various "long action" ARs.

Good luck with your build.

I've got some rifles mainly for hunting.

My freinds brother stuck a 12 gauge in his mouth and killed himself.

Lately I have been having episodes where I actually wonder what it must have been like for him. I go from a state of "well guess he didn't feel a thing" too "god, what if he did".

Just trying to sort it out and keep myself from thinking about such things.

Please note I am in no way suicidal. Just have these thoughts every once in a while.

Any opinions?y Dad raised me very well around guns and I had them in the military. So safety is my main concern now that I have kids. Guess I need to get on over to a firing range and get out all the anxiety.

Pull the trigger.

Cause your friends brother was weak should not keep you from shooting.

I don't get to shoot much. When the opportunity arises, however, I find its just as/much more calming than driving fast or workin on my car, or practically anything else.

Shoot it out. Somethin about the noise, kick, and intensity of it all.

Works wonders.

For what its worth: think on this - if you are in no way suicidal, then it really can't matter what he felt, if anything.. You will never know.

Stay strong, man.

Picked up a Shied a couple weeks ago for a new carry piece, amazing. I am in love. Shoots great, and conceals a hell of a lot better than my 1911 did. I actually traded the 1911 for the Shield 40 + cash. Went and picked up a Comp-Tac Minotaur holster immediately and have carried it everywhere I can.

Yeah Strikefire with high mount I absolutely love it don't like the look of holographic my buddy had the cheapo sight mark and the eotech and I still prefer my tube red dot. The sight is outstanding and vortex customer service is even better. I had a circuit board break (totally my fault) sent it off with return form had a brand new one 4 days later not a single question asked. They said it was a defect and should of held up. NutnFancy on youtube does a very in depth review of it (He annoys the hell out of me but he does know his stuff) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3oQg1p1UPFY

Also in other firearm news this new one found its way in
Remington 887 12ga 26in. 3 1/2. Got a great deal on a price match and display discount.
The gun is fully encased in what Remington is calling ArmoLokt which is basically polymer to defend rust and weather related wear its very "interesting" to say the least

Quick question guys: lookin to trade this bad boy (9mm FEG ARMY high-power clone):

uploadfromtaptalk1401238367087.jpg

For a kahr cm9 brand new unfired in the box.

Dude says he can buy my pistol used for 3 bills all day online, and wants cash on top. How much should I give him? Mine is used and is in excellent condition, might need a stonger extraction spring as it jams on extraction occasionally, and I've never had a problem with hammer bite (I got small but fat hands). I have it currently listed on ArmsList for $350. Opinions?

Kahr makes a very nice firearm. Pricey as well. I just looked at one today and I can't remember what the price was. Shop around and see what's the lowest price you can find for it.
