Blower Motor

I am replacing the blower motor in my 2001 Jimmy. It has the c68 option auto climate control, variable speed fan. I got a blower motor which turned out to be the wrong one so I returned it. Ordered the “correct” motor from amazon.
The old blower motor has 2 connectors. 1 is the main connector with several wires, the 2nd is a single wire going to a spade connector next to the main connector.
The motor I ordered has the main connector but there is no extra spade connector, even though the picture for the part shows it.
I plugged the main connector in and the blower motor spins.
What is that extra connector for and do I need it?

Welcome to the Nation!

That is a ground wire. I think it's for radio noise abatement. Some other motors from that era also have that spade connector on one of the mounting screws so you could fashion something like that.
