I couldnt find anything on this here. So I'll start one.

My 02 XL the bearing is going out on the compressor. Right now no time to do the work. Would like to find a accessory belt that bypasses the a/c unit. From reading it will also bypass idler pulley.

Roadie I noticed you had posted drawings on this and what lead me to the thread I found info in elsewhere.

Where I am getting confused. I found this.

The previous thread talked about a belt # 705K6. I tried this one and it was too short for my Trailblazer. I ended up with a 695K6 and it worked great. So anyone needing this should check it out. Mine is a 2002 EXT if that helps.
I'm bypassing on a 02 XL

I dont understand how 705K6 belt was to short and the 695K6 worked perfect? The 695K6 69.488" is a shorter belt then 705K6 70.472".

If I remember correctly, its the different alternator sizes.

Despite what auto stores have in their databases, all alternators across all models and years are the same: 150A
The difference is in the power steering pump pulley. EXTs PS pulleys are smaller (pump runs faster) so they get a 1inch shorter belt.

You'd be surprised how far an +/- an inch goes ( :raspberry:) on belt fitment.

Well the MC got a new belt while I was at it and the envoy XL got a new 695K6 to bypass the a/c and idler. Working good.

Has anyone been using this setup for some prolonged period of time? I bought a 705 belt for my 9-7X (A/C condenser dead) and the tension on the belt is way lower than it should be. Plus the water pump pulley is not strapped properly, which in combination seems like a good way to destroy your water pump bearings.
For now I'll just carry the belt in my truck in case my compressor blew and rendered the beltdrive stuck.

I'm almost thinking non-XL people should use the 695 one too.

The belt I have been using on my 02 XL is the 4060695 Goodyear Gatorback. I bought it back in 2013 and works well. Everything is nice and tight.

Just replaced my alternator and realized the belt has cracks and need replaced. Before I get one I'm confused on the size because most are saying 705K6 is the correct belt for the compressor delete which mine will be a long time if ever I can replace that but the numbers on the belt I'm using are Dayco brand 6Pk1765. Seemed to work well. Should I stick with that or try something else? Got about half inch of push before the tensioner even starts to move. Idk. Just can't afford anything else to go wrong.

Works out to 69.488 inches. Maybe that's fine for my 03 swb.

Check the tensioner as to where it sits. There is usually a pointer and a range that the pointer should be at to have correct tension. Although this one is of another vehicle's tensioner, it would look similar.
