NEED HELP 2006 Trailblazer No Crank/No Start

#1
Hello All,

I recently attempted to install a new head unit in my 2006 Trailblazer EXT with Bose audio. I did not know that they made plug and play harnesses at the time of install and I clipped all the wires from the stock connector and tried to wire them up to the aftermarket harness. The head unit worked fine until the vehicle was put in reverse or drive and I depressed the break or gas pedals. At the point the unit would turn off until the vehicle came to a complete stop. After some research, I ran a wire from the rear seat fuse box with a fuse tap on a 10a IGN fuse to the aftermarket head unit for constant power. After doing so the engine will not crank or start. The only lights I'm getting on the dash are the battery and the image with the car-lock. Both go away after 1-2 seconds. I can start the engine with a jumper wire at the starter relay. All fuses and relay check out to be good. That's as far as I've gotten.

Disconnect the radio and see if things work properly. What you have done is interrupted the databus. Likely you are better off to rewire your OEM connector back up and do a proper install of the head unit.

The radio is disconnected. I unhooked everything I did and tried to start it but I'm still having the same issue. I will have to splice everything back together to reconnect it. Is there another way? I grabbed another connector from a junk yard because I did not leave enough wire to splice back into. I tried to reconnect but still had the same issue.

the radio itself doesn't need to be connected but you need to ensure that you have indeed removed all the wiring you "added". The "car-lock" image is likely a bad sign... you might have triggered the anti-theft system.... is the light on with the key in "ON" or with the key in "off"?

You might have done something with the "power add"... what fuse was it... its usually a bad idea to "blindly" tap into fuses without knowing what's on the circuit.

Maybe you have to follow the relearn process for the passcode system.

Key on position, but quickly goes off. It does not stay on the 10-11 mins that Ive seen in some post to do the re-learn cycle. Fuse #47 10a ING0

I guess your weren't so lucky with your "blind" choice of power taps... that fuse serves the theft deterrent module...

So is this a fix I can do? Or is my only option to take it to a dealer and have them reset it? Is it as simple as a reset from the dealer? Or will they have to replace the module?
