Does this switch also sense if the door is open? My 06 TB has suddenly stopped knowing when the drivers door is opened, leaving radio on and dome light off.

When my failed the key-in-ignition buzzer didn't work, no power mirrors, radio stopped when the key is turned off (Normally the radio works for a short time after the vehicle is shut off) but the dome lights worked sometimes when door was open.

The window failed in my 2007 about six months ago. I didn't get it fixed because I couldn't swing the $300+ for the work. The recall came just in time. Everything is working now and it didn't cost me anything. For the curious, here's a picture of the old module. The smoke was horrendous and it lingered in the car for months.

Holy crap! That thing almost went up man! Mine stopped working and I got the recall done, but it didn't smoke or anything I didn't even know when it shorted until the next time I tried to use it to lower a window. Glad you were able to save the cash as well as get that fixed.

Anyone experience their driver door light switches being partly out? My recall was done last week but not all lights are working.

You mean the little symbols on the windows switches aren't backlit? A lot of mine are out yes. I figured my bulbs were out and have an LED conversion project on my todo list to fix this eventually. I saw MAY03LTs TB where he put red in there and it looks awesome. I didn't even realize how badly my switches have burned out because the other ones are so dim anyway.

Yes the back lighting is what I'm referring to. Your project sounds intense. I figured I'd just let the dealer fix it:biggrin:

Lol they're going to just replace it with an a whole new module (100% markup to boot) and you'll be left with crappy bulbs. If you're time is worth a lot then that's that, but if you are willing to spend a weekend researching and doing it I'm sure you could pull it off no problem.

Would love to see the part numbers on that unit. Got a photo of the bottom?

The only numbers on the module is a small sticker on the short side. Here's the numbers:
328514
06341d

Hope this helps

So after a visit to the dealer they said we need a new switch. Even though the recall had just been done they said it is not a covered repair under the recall. Thankfully I have a warranty on there that covers this part.
Curiously they said once it's replaced they have reprogram it as well. Crazy stuff reprogramming a switch! Anyone heard of this?

Out of curiosity, I dismantled the old switch assembly (they left the old one in the car when they replaced it). There is quite a bit in there including some programmable chips. Here's my understanding, the harness in the car is the same regardless of options. Depending on your trim package, your Trailblazer could have just the windows and locks or something more. It appears that the circuit board in the module is the same regardless of options.

So, the chips in the module have to be programmed so they know how the module was outfitted. Otherwise, it would send signals to the main computer that it couldn't make sense of. Too much computer control for me. I wonder if I could get my 82 S-10 back?

Into the future we boldly go !!

That's progress:
A microchip that disables the windows, locks and mirrors and may catch fire.
A relay that knocks out low beams that you can't override with the dashboard light switch.
A computer that protects the engine after a single backfire that stalls you on the freeway and keeps you from going over ten miles be hour.
A tire sensor that continues to ring a stupid bell even when the tire is properly inflated.

That's a list from my Trailblazer alone. Progress indeed.
