Ok so me and my wife just returned to the USA after being in the UK for 8 months .
Were in Nevada just out side Vegas in Pahrump

Been looking at vehicles as a bit of a stop gap as were kind of starting again

1. For my wife to get to and from work ( shes a nurse )

2. She is pregnant so something that would keep us all safe

So she spotted the Xuv and a trilblazer online so she got a lift from her dad to go and view .

She loved the gmc xuv .
133k miles
Drove amazing and she brought it home

Found a few issues ( we didnt realise all this is capable of doing when everything works )

Its the Version without sunroof

1. No key remote fob just 1 key
Looking around adding a remote fob shouldnt be an issue

2. Key locks the drivers door and opens it . Obviously works with ignition .
But when opening the door with the key and locking it doesnt activate lock and unlock of the centtal locking system . It just manually locks and unlocks drivers door .
The buttons inside the cab work all central locking so at the moment we locked the car via the switches on the door with drivers door open then lock the drivers door with the key

3. The mid window is down and pressing the switch on the over head console and button behind rear seat drivers side can hear something actuate but no movement from the window

4. Over head console only button we getting a click / sound from is i think for the mid window . Nothing from the other 2 switches For roof and tailgate

5. Tail gate

Pressing the central button we hear a unlock and door opens side ways not down . The glass doesnt move .

Press the switch on the left we hear unlicking sounds but will only open from the middle one

( there is a message on the dash check manual - tailgate )

Tailgate opens etc as above but not down wards

No power to rear wiper , third brake light etc

Key in the tail gate doesnt do anything and the tailgate is not locking no matter what we try

So plan today is to go through all the fuses.
To try and get the mid window up so atleast the cab is secure then work back

Any help and advice appreciated . Its a nice motor . Sturdy . Feel safe in it but now we know whay it can do we would like to sort as much as we can
Working from the front back

Thanks in advance Dave and Nicki

:iagree:

Although @TollKeeper might disagree, the XUV was in production only for a couple of years and there are no new replacement parts to repair the XUV specific functions and used parts are hard to find and iffy at best.

Thanks for the replys

Well shes bought it  so plan now sort the mid window and central licking via key / remote .. that then secures the vehicle and the rest can be looked at over time .

Ok sooo ... rear hatch / door is a wiring mess so that can stay for now . One of actuator plugs has had thd wiring cut and swapping the actuator plug over works the open . Close .

The mid gate def needs a regulator there is a part missing 🫣 but is there any way of manually getting the mid gate window up and closed ?

Realease the window and wedged in place for now .

Just find ideally cheapest and best place for a new regulator ..

Then on to the mess at the rear 🫣

Well we will get a new regulator for mid window after new year . Got the glass up and wedged in place so cab is more secure .

Need two rear lower reverse lights

The rear well thats a different story Omg 🤣

Wires cut and joined everywhere so hope i may be able to get a new loom and start again

Handle actuators on the rear working but only when swap the plugs around as wires have been cut on one

No wiper working

Nothing locks At the tailgate end

No third brake light

Only opens horizontal

Key does nothing in the lock

OK soo yes the rear hatch door loom is a mess a BIG mess .
Plus side i know the window actuator works ..🤣 goes up and down fine now via the over head console . But it doesnt drop when opening the tailgate .
Door still only opening side ways due to one of actuator cables being cut 🫣 so i know the 2 on drivers side work fine .. if i could just get it to lock with the key that would be a bonus .

Unsure whats gone wrong previously and obviously wires and comppnents have been by passed . Im soo tempted to try patching it all back together somehow and start again ... catch 22 really as in doing so could loose window mech and door latch etc 😬

SOOOi know the window in tailgate is good after playing around with wires 🫣
It just doesnt drop when opening the door and nothing happens using the key in the lock

Now if can get it to actually lock with the key ? Or get the key to actually do anything

I know the drivers side actuators are working too . They latch and unlatch when pad is pressed ..

So now i can operate the end gate window from the cab area . Goes up and down fine .
But with the wiring mess at the moment the window doesnt drop when pressing the actuator but het it works

I would like to be able to lock the end gate

Now with the wiring nightmare in the rear 😬 im unsure if ugs are missing . Cut off etc . Im unsre if the key in the lock should lock / open the car or is that just to lower the window .

If any one has any pictures they could share ?

( the lock on end gate does nothing on the end gate )

I would be happy at the moment if we could lock the full car via the switches in the cab if
possible ... if can lock the rear then its one step closer

Both actuators work . Drivers side both locks open and close when pressing the actuator . Just want to lock the rear if possible

Also wondering if i order a fob does it have to be fo xuv or would one for normal envoy work untill we sort the rear ?

As mentioned in Post #8 ...Click on THIS Link and Review Each and Every Video on the servicing of the XUV being shown there. Stop the Video at any Key Points of concern and perform Screen-Prints to gather the images you need of what you see for comparison and reference with your own repairs:

Type in "XUV" as shown by the Red Arrow for that Linked Site and Opening Page:

Cant disagree with truth. Parts have not been available for many years.

There are a few exceptions. The mid-gate window regulator can be had from Autozone with a lifetime warranty. And from my recent shopping experience, is actually the cheapest. Dorman makes it, and they redesigned one of the largest problem areas, the plastic wire tie ins. The made them metal!

A couple years ago, I found someone parting out a Silver XUV (same color as mine) and bought the end-gate for 50 bucks. Glad I did, a few months later I found my CHMSL dangling by the wire. Still worked, but the mounting bosses had broken off. Had the part, and replaced it.
