XM Antenna Damage

My xm antenna got hit by a branch and broke the bottom of it, XM then disappeared off my list of availiable stations on my radio (OEM touchscreen nav). Is this because the antenna was damaged? I ordered a new antenna, just wondering if anyone else has run into this where XM no longer is an option to select. I don't actually use XM itself, but I have my iPhone connected in through the XM channel to stream music.

Very, very odd. Never heard of the XM module having a self-diagnostic that would take it offline if you were missing the antenna. You're the first one to ever have this symptom in my six years on the forum (this and the OS).

Bill,

Do you know if XM uses different polarizations for their channels like DIRECTV? If so they might send a voltage tot he antenna to select the polarization and are detecting a short on it. Trying to remember what we had to do when I worked on a DIRECTV receiver. Didn't work on the tuner much though.
