Windstar - Starter frozen, literally!

So, it's about 10 degrees out this morning, and I hit the remote start to warm up the Windstar (currently driving as the 9-7x is waiting for a part for the air suspension). To my surprise, it clicked and did not start. I figured dead battery threw a charger on it, but turns out it was fully charged. I turned the key several times, and only got the click, no turning over whatsoever. I finally got to turn over after repeatedly trying to start it, lots of clicks, until it broke free.

Anyone had something like this before? Started like a dream once it broke free.

Could be that the starter is going. If it happens again, try tapping on the starter.

Thought about that, but I found it way too much of a coincidence that it acts up on the coldest day we've had. It's never done this before, so i guess I'll just wait and see if it repeats.

I would bet it is starter dying not cold. Unless you had moisture in starter.
