Alright gents, I am going to be ordering a new pump for my 2006 4.2L. The original went about 130,000km and the Napa chinese one is about 150,000km.

Any preferred brands? Rock has quite the assortment, including GM genuine for about 100 bucks over what the others cost. Not that I care but these days, is genuine any better?

Thanks!

THIS "Pro" ACDelco Flavor would be my only choice...

ACDelco all the way for me. Looking at the pictures, the GM one seems to come pre-rusted

Sounds good boys, thanks. That's all I needed to hear. If there was banter about brand x working well or brand y being the OE supplier, then maybe. I'll add her to the list.

Never been able to figure out who their supplier is. We know a few others but not the WP.

And here's what I mean about the GM being "pre-rusted".

One thing I just noticed. If I look up the "pro" number @mrrsm posted on RA, it comes up as the GM genuine. The "Made in Canada" stickers confirm that. The other ACDelco 2522822 is classified as "gold". I have one of those I ordered two years ago on Amazon when a warehouse deal showed up.

Just for grins, my water pump history on my 2004, 4.2L:

Replaced factory W/P at 36K with Duralast
Replaced Duralast W/P at 100K with Duralast
Replaced Duralast W/P at 169K with Duralast
Replaced Duralast W/P at 225K with Duralast
Replaced Duralast W/P at 244K with Gates

Most if not all the Duralast replacements were under the lifetime warranty. Also, the pumps were seeping and could have gone longer but I never took the chance. Twenty years and five water pumps. As said before, you have to factor in your time/labor if you plan on going with a cheaper lifetime warranty part.
