What other vehicles have a compatible 5.3L DOD?

I need to find a replacement for mine. I don't have $7k+ to put into it, I do not want to go Jasper, and I am having trouble locating anything used. The closest I found was from pickups, but the mechanics don't know what makes it different to chance the swap.

I was also under the impression that the 2006-2009 was also the same engine, maybe a different ECM or exhaust manifold, but all the salvage yards say no. What engines can I include in my search, and what parts do I need to save/add to make it compatible with my '05 XL?

LH6

The LH6 with Active Fuel Management replaced the LM4 for 2005, and was the first of the Generation IV small block V8 truck engines to go into production. It is the aluminum block counterpart to the LY5.

LH6 applications:

2004–2009 Chevrolet TrailBlazer including EXT (through 2006)

2005–2009 GMC Envoy Denali

2005–2006 GMC Envoy XL

2005 GMC Envoy XUV

2005–2007 Buick Rainier

2005–2009 Saab 9-7X

2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

2007-2009 GMC Sierra 1500

you'd have to be sure it has a 24x crank reluctor, not a 58x

If you need to replace the whole engine why not throw in a 6 liter while you are at it?

Sounds like he needs is asking for your local area "recycler" feelers ?...
We should have a thread like that...& other finds we could help each other out with

Good point, 03-06 engines are 24x and 07+ LSx engines are 58x.

I agree, but usually you can find 5.3s a lot cheaper because they're more common.

If you dont care about the all aluminum block, you could go for an iron block 5.3 out of a fullsize truck. You will need to have the PCM/ECM/TCM flashed if you go this route.
