Wanted tips for replacing the starter on a 5.3 Envoy

Narrowed it down to the starter.

Looks like a bear to get out. My online info tells me it's a 4 hour job.

I'm thinking remove the passenger side CV shaft.

Any tips?

Seems to be a bitch of a job. Says to remove the rack and pinion crossmember, cooler line bracket and transmission side cover and that it's tight against the oil pan to pass it through. Says nothing about the axle. All I can say is arm yourself with patience and share your experience.

So, 45 minutes and I have the starter on the floor.

I figure another hour to install it.
