TIS2000 and Tech2

Hello there. I am looking for some help with the Tech2 and TIS2000. I have been reading for hours and am only able to find broken links and dead forums but it looks like there might be some hope here!

First of all, I am only the technical guy here and my brother is the one looking to use these tools on his vehicles. He came to me hoping that my technical background would help get him to a better place with this equipment.

So far I have a Win7 32-bit VM running and the Tech 2 is connected with a USB to serial adapter and the TIS2000 software does recognize the device. I am able to control the Tech2 from the VM after lots of trial and error yay!

At this point I need to get the dongle/emulator/crack I keep reading about. Apparently is used to be easy to find and download but every link I have clicked is broken or takes me to a 404 page.

Lastly I need do 'roll back' the software. I am not 100% sure what exactly is needed here but I'm assuming I need to find a application version specific to my brothers vehicle and flash that to the device with the 'Software Download' option. When I choose the custom option under software download I receive error E805: The database connection failed. Reading around the internets I am getting the impression that the software is looking for a CD-ROM that might have the 'software' to flash on it?

Any help/direction/tips would be greatly appreciated!

Does the dongle/crack link work for you? It takes me to a dead site as all of the other links I have found do. I am seeking a working link or download for the dongle/crack.

I have moved this thread to the Tech 2 section where there are tons of info.

There are no software updates available. The Tis2000 install software floating around is the latest available. Module update info is only available up to 2008-09. The Tech 2 itself is only useable on vehicles up to 2013. Tis2000 does not have module update software for anything between 2009-2013.

And do not use the update button in Tis2000 with your Tech2 connected to the computer as that will revert your Tech2 to the last update from Tis2000, which was 2008. This would kill any chance to use the Tech2 for vehicles from 2009-13. If you did, then you'll have to find a new PCMCIA card with the last Tech2 version. It can be found on Aliexpress.

Thanks! Turns out the link was blocked by my firewall and I was jsut assuming it was broken like all of the others so far, horay! I was able to download the dongle crack but received a few errors. Ill have to do some more tinkering after work.

Thanks @Mooseman, I was exhausted last night and realized this morning that I posted in the wrong place, sorry about that.

Our end goal here is to be able to work on two 2008 vehicles, one Suburban and a Sky. Sounds like I maybe do want to push the update button?

No. No reason to roll back the software on the Tech2.
