Take a look at my (ORIGINAL?) 41-981 plugs....

Changed today at 177000km / 110000 miles. Plugs I pulled out were the 41-981's, and from a thread on the OS, it seems like those were getting hard to find even as far back as late '04. My build date was Oct '04, so I'm kinda suspecting these were the ORIGINAL plugs. Anybody feel like saying yay or nay?

On the plus side I was pretty impressed...no moisture or oil in any of the plug wells, no real fouling, and they all looked to me like they could easily have lasted longer. OTOH I guess that means there's no reason for me to expect any mileage or performance changes either.

Pics below is what they ALL looked like

The only drawback is that this might mean all my driveline fluids are original too :yikes: ...those are on my list for sometime this week

There was a change over to AC 41-103 iridium plugs.
The fluids, if original, are only 10K miles past their change mileage and as long as the t-case fluid was changed at 50K, you should be safe.
Also, the Dex-cool should have been changed in October 2009.

Yup I know....that's what went in. Was just mildy surprised to find 981's in there.

Not too worried about the diff's. Tranny fluid is starting to take on a brownish tinge, so it's due. It's the transfer case I wonder about most...no prior service records so I can't tell if it would EVER have been done...hopefully I'll have a clue this week

I know my t-stat has started going, so coolant change is planned with t-stat and ECT sensor before very long.

Thx
