Hi everyone.
I have a problem with by passenger side tail light frequently going out in my 06 Trailblazer EXT LS. When I take the bad lamp out, one or both of the thin metal contacts on the lamp itself is melted into the plastic lamp base. The filiment of the lamp is always good. I cleaned up the contacts in the lamp circuit board, and install a new lamp, and its ok for a few months. Does anyone know of a different style lamp or tail lamp board that may correct this problem? Any help is much appreciated.

There was a recall on these. Most have been replaced. Not sure if dealers will still swap them out for free or not, but it's worth a phone call.

If the recall was already done or doesn't apply, there are aftermarket boards available for under $20 at any parts store or Ebay. Upgrade and avoid scraping the old ones.

Always be sure to put bulb grease on the contacts before installing. This will keep the contacts cooler and eliminate future melting and avoid corrosion.
