Ok I have seen alot of threads about people putting the z71 springs on the rear. I was wondering if I could use the springs and shocks off a z71 tahoe and the strut assembly off the z71 would it bolt on ok to my TB????? It just seems like it would make it easier to make it more level to get the strut assembly for the front off a z71 and get the springs and shocks for the rear. But i dont know if it would work like that. Help please????

Only the rear springs off of a 2007 or newer will work on our platform. Don't use the shocks for the rear as they are junk especially with a lift added.

Here is more information on the site for your reading pleasure. http://gmtnation.com/f76/z71-springs-361/

Here more information lifts and what not for the suspension for you to read up on as well. http://forums.offroadtb.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=20 Sounds like you have some time on your hands right now.

If only GM design teams were told to use as many parts as they can find already in the supply and service pipeline, they might have been clever enough to offer us more interchangeability. But alas, they assign no value to things that benefit modifiers like us. I believe they actively try to thwart parts swapping for legal reasons.

So we have a unique hub and wheel stud pattern, and we have a lower strut mount and lower control arm design shared by no other vehicle. Sigh.... :frown:

If I am a car builder, I re-use as many parts from other models as possible to keep from having to re-design and build model specific parts.
All of my 6 lug wheels would have the same pattern and use the same freaking hub and brakes when possible.
All the mid sized vehicles would have the same rear end in them when possible.
I would expect if one part is slightly overbuilt for an application that would be more than offset by the cost of re-designing another model and all the tooling that goes into that.

It makes no sense to me that all of the TB and the Colorados don't have the 8.6 rear.
I would have the same starter and alternator etc in them all as well.
Every part I could re-use I would.
It would also mean it takes much less inventory to service more vehicles.

I believe that Regulator has been running the Avalanche coils off an 02 or 04.

Yup, my rear coils were donated from a 2003 Z71 Avalanche. I salvaged the springs and wheels before selling the truck for salvage after I rolled it.
