Starter Remote Device

I saw on u-tube where a mechanic was doing a compression test and had a starter relay connected to the fuse with a on and off switch , anybody know what it's called?

But instead of connecting it directly to the starter solenoid like in the pic above, you could pull the starter relay in the fuse box, use a couple of small spade connectors, put the connectors in the relay slots that correspond to + and the solenoid. Or just do what I do, use a jumper wire.

Not quite as convenient though when performing a Compression or a Cylinder Leak Down Test...

Yes... You had the nomenclature perfectly...It is called "A Remote, Push Button Starter Switch" and it is used to bypass the Ordinary "KEY-ON" Starter Solenoid Activation after being connected as per these images:
