Hello, I have a question about shipping. A member in PA is going to ship his Nav unit to me here in Ontario Canada, can someone suggest the best way, I thought UPS or FedEx n insure it. Any other suggestions? He mentioned priority mail?

I know when i went to fed ex they were going to charge me alot of money for a card to ship to canada. i had asked cause i was shipping presents back home. then tami went to the post office and it was only a buck or two. He can get insurance on priority mail too. so i would go with that. it will save you money.

Priority mail would be a lot cheaper, and insurance is available. I don't know how long it will take to get to Canada, but in the States it's a 2-3 day delivery. I'd bet it would be just as fast as UPS or FedEx.

I work for UPS, but I do have to say priority mail will be cheaper:lipsrsealed:. UPS charges a ton for international packages.

The seller just contacted me and apparently UPS is about $38.00 insured? So we gonna go that route, FedEx was about $80 which I'm my opinion is just stupid! I'm sure UPS is better than regular mail.

Thanks.

hmm that's less than i was thinking, but it also depends on where its going, the price goes up if its a more rural area because it's a less direct route, fuel & driver costs are more. I would put some extra padding in it... being that it is international it will be handled more and the more it's handled the higher the chances it could get damaged. :twocents:

Do not use UPS or FedEx for cross border shipping under any circumstances !!! They will charge you so much for customs clearance that you will regret it. Use USPS. May cost more up front but will still save you money. And with current limits , you might not even pay any taxes with Canada Post but UPS will charge even if you owe nothing just for clearing it.

I second mooseman. I've bought lots out of the states. NEVER use UPS. Try will rape you with brokerage fees. USPS is the best option for Canadians receiving items from the states. And the chance of you paying anything extra is very slim. Also get the shipper to write used car parts on the packing slip.

Let us know how the install goes. Installing a stock nav unit? That's something I've considered.
