I know everyone recommends towing in 3 rd for trailers in general. I recently purchased an older Seadoo and trailer. Combined Weight is at most 1300 lbs.

I have a PCM of N. Carolina auxiliary transmission cooler installed. Fresh transmission fluid.

Can I tow in Drive? Or do I have to keep it in 3rd? Thanks for any info.

I guess it would depend on the terrain and gearing. If you have the GU6 gearing, I would tow in 3rd.

If you are noticing the transmission shifting more than it would normally, put it in 3rd.

I'd try it in D and see how it acts. Probably will still need to downshift to 3rd going up grades or you notice it hunting between 3rd and 4th. Headwinds can also affect towing.
