Said goodbye to the Trailblazer today

It's been a long time coming. I have gone back and forth for a couple of years now, but today I finally pulled the trigger. Traded my 2002 Trailblazer LS for a 98 S10 LS. It is a standard cab/short bed with a 4.3l V6 and a 5 speed manual. I have been looking for that drivetrain combo for a while, so I am pretty stoked! I guess it is a downgrade, but I am very excited to start the project. I will eventually do an LS swap, but for now the plans are to take care of the body work and paint as well as going through some other routine maintenance. I did walk with a decent amount of cash from the deal, so I have plenty of cash to work on things. Plans are to find a donor with a blown motor and swap in the good parts. Here are a couple of glamour shots. Don't let them fool you, the bed is rough and it needs a new hood and bumper.

2/3 drop has already been ordered.

Sad to here the tb is gone. But there is so many options with a S10. They are the perfect platform to lower or bag. Glad to see you didn't get the 4 banger. Can't wait to see the progress

I looked all over for the engine/trans combo. I found a lot of 4.3/auto and a lot of 2.2/stick. This is going to be the easiest for the motor/trans swap I want to do this winter.

Best part is that I am still a part of the nation....and I can start to build up one of the sub sections.

Damn, I was still betting on the idea of selling it being just another phase. Sorry to see it go but am looking forward to see where the new truck takes you.

Thanks, all. I am defintely looking forward to this. As of right now, I am working out any mechanical issues and then moving on to the interior and exterior. I have wanted to do an ls1 or lt1 swap in one of these for a while. Hope to do that over the winter. I have also been thinking about nodding the 4.3 in the meantime. Maybe cam/lifters/rockers etc...intake and exhaust. Perhaps even just a full 4.3 turbo build. Haven't quite decided on anything yet. I'll start up a build thread this weekend as my first mods get underway.

Not a fan of the S-10 but have the 4.3 in one of my boats and that is a great, simple engine.

I thought the s 10 extremes were rather cool.

Ha, I did too back in 1991. My buddy had one with a 350 in it.

They had the "extemre" package back in the early 90's? I thought taht was a late 90's early 2000 thing. But I would agree, They were neat little trucks.
