Removing GMC Envoy center console w/aux input install

This is a step by step on how to remove the gmc envoy's center console and dash plate, while also installing a aux input into the dash plate. you can do the mod by following this thread http://gmtnation.com/forums/topic/1687-300-aux-input-via-xm-interface/
(in the thread he says to use 5 wires in the Ethernet wire but i saw no need for it and didn't do it since they go to the same output, you only need 3 wires so you can just use a 3.5mm extension cable and cut the ends or wrap the two left channel and two right channel wires in the Ethernet together and splice them together going towards the radio)

Tools Needed:
7mm socket
phillips screwdriver
T-10 Torx bit
a long extension

1a. remove all items from the center console, then remove the one 7mm bolt from the cup holder next to the shifter, 2 screws on the top front of the cargo bin, the 2 screws under the small rubber insert inside the cargo bin and the last 2 screws in the bottom of the cargo bin under the rubber insert and remove the storage bin.

1b. now you can remove the arm rest to make it easier to get to the connector and bolts inside the center console and easier to remove it too. its just three 7mm bolts

2. now remove the last two 7mm bolts inside the center console


3a. now get a T-10 bit and remove the small screw in the shifter after pulling the shifter just about all the way back. also pull the parking brake handle all the way up.

3b. now pull up on the shifters shroud to release the clips

4. now lift the center console up from the rear and unplug the big connector

in order to remove the connector you need to press on tab shown and pull up on the purple handle on the same side and then repeat on the other side until the purple handle is loose, then flip it over and remove the connector

5. now lift the center console up and out from the rear and you should be left with whatever you find that was under the center console - pens, keys, coins, french fries

6. if that's all you need than the installation is just the reverse of removal, when you put the center console back slide it from the back in and make sure you watch out for points where it can get stuck on like the seat belt

ok and now for removing the dash plate and installing the aux input -

1. remove the two screws on either side of the dash carpeting

2. remove the two screws on either side of the dash plate

now wedge your fingers up while pulling out to release the clips all the way up on both sides

3. now disconnect all connectors and remove the dash plate

4. now if you want to install the aux input and you followed the way in the thread posted in the beginning then remove the glove box by pulling on the tab but make sure you hold the glove box as it will fall and throw everything out.

now you should have your aux input wire

now run the wire down through where the rear wiper switch is and up to wherever you would like, i chose next to the radio but make sure you check for clearance between the clips

now remove the dash plate and make the hole for the input make sure you use a size slightly smaller and just round the hole out with the same bit so it would be a tight fit

7. installation is just the reverse of removal but do make sure you check for clearance on the plugs and wires in the dash panel also when you put the center console back slide it from the back in first and make sure you watch out for points where it can get stuck on like the seat belt
