Radio Replacement Cost?

As I noted in my introduction: I may be picking up a 2007 TB Monday. Thing is: One of the broken bits is the radio. Either that of 5-out-of-6 speakers are shot or dying. Which seems more likely?

Assuming that, as I suspect, it's the radio, and the dealer balks: How much would it cost to replace an XM-capable radio, from where might I best obtain one, and how much effort are they to replace?

Thanks,
Jim

Don't know if you will find any new but you can probably get used ones for around $250 with shipping. try checking on car-part.com or look up the LQK website.

I honestly do not know.

But I guess I have more-or-less what I need. A replacement radio should be around $250-$300, I guess. Hopefully the dealer will just fix it all, so it's a non-issue.

JIM! You just used multiquote! We try for YEARS to get some folks to consolidate their responses like that. Way to go!

Excessive enthusiasm used to try to motivate the slowpokes with sarcasm.

Very well: $150-$300, depending. Dealer probably won't have an issue with that, then.

As for the multi-quote: Thanks. Sometimes I don't do it, but, most times, when it makes sense, I do. Makes for easier reading for the rest, I believe.

I'll keep it in mind, DDonnie.

Is there a FAQ, somewhere, telling one how they might identify what kind of radio they have? Or do the Bose radios say "Bose" right on them?

Thanks,
Jim

Okay. Don't recall seeing that. I'll double-check.

If the current radio works, it'll be fine.

Were I to replace the radio that's in there with anything, I think I'd want to look at the feasibility of a nav system.

I just bought and installed pioneer avic-z140bh and I love it. Integrates Bluetooth. DVD player can load up USB drive with music and videos play them. Also has option for reverse camera and of coarse navigation the model I have was a bit pricey but I think was worth every dime

It turns out replacing the radio won't be necessary. Problem was all due to the PO having done... something to the speaker wiring. The dealership returned it all to factory stock--including installing a missing speaker.

I think I'm gonna like this dealer

Radio works great. (Tho I'm not at all used to what's supposed to be centered content actually being centered on me, rather than the cabin.) It turns out it's a Bose, with a 6-CD changer.

Listened to Tony Bennet's The Art of Excellence on the way in to work, this morning. My old car, a Honda CR-V (which treated me well, mind you) was too noisy to allow the appreciation of such as that in the car. Particularly at expressway speeds. Nice
