Hey everybody!

I am looking at doing the pillar mod on my envoy. I noticed today that the pillars are covered in plastic NOT vinyl like I thought. My question is...does anyone know if the Pillar is solid(no retainer holes). And is there any special tricks to the removal?

Please and thank you

Its solid. Its just a thin thin piece of plastic.

I believe BHAMER removed the vinyl recently on his Voy. I think he posted pics, but I cannot find them currently. Hopefully he will chime in. I thought he posted a pic in the thread, "what did you do to your GMT today".

I did find it easier to peel the plastic off and leave the adhesive behind. Then pull the adhesive tape off in one piece if possible. It didn't leave a lot of glue behind.

Thanks for the pics! Looks good with them removed. Any worries about weatherstripping seal with it now thinner where it attaches?

Not really, the weatherstrip doesn't attach to it. The plastic just sits right underneath it. So i don't think it will matter to much.
I'm thinking about trying to trim the black weatherstrip that connects the back door with the rear glass though...if anyone has any ideas that may be helpful...

Isnt that section just laid over the metal and not really attached?

It is and its not. It does just lay on the rear f the door but it is attached to the belt molding/weather strip. I talked with Jrss and he said he just cut it off, I am just a wee bit nervous doing that...lol I havent had time to really look at it again since I got the truck back from the shop. Might get time to do it this weekend.

Just do it. It looks a lot better cut off. I actually just used a razor blade. Just be careful and u wont damage the paint.

My bad, missed the weather strip removal posts. It does not appear that he went that far yet.
