Does anybody know how to take the airbag cover off of the passenger side? I've searched and i know it's possible because someone did it on the OS, but he didnt post a walkthrough. Thanks for the help!

Just remove the glove box, and look upwards for the mounting bolts. I removed my entire dash to put in a passenger grab handle, but it's not that hard to remove the airbag. The plastic cover is attached but I don't know how tightly. Some people have painted them in place to avoid the tiny risk of unplugging the unit.

If I disconnect the battery 30 minutes ahead of time, do i have to worry about accidental deployment?

I wouldn't worry. Some nervous nellies worry about static spark discharge setting them off, but that's why the special connector shorts out between the conductors when unplugged.

Added: That said, I STILL never put my face in front of the firing arc, and I move the disconnected unit with decent vigor to a safe place away from the vehicle when I work on the dash.

For posterity sake, there is a retaining nut on either side of the airbag that you have to reach through the (removed) vents to get loose

Also, they are a pain in the ass
