Painting Rims...Need Idea's.

Does anyone have any idea's on how to make these rims LESS ugly than what they already are? It will be a while before I can get a nice pair of shoes for the truck, and these ugly ass things are driving me mad. Photoshop would be awesome too if anyone dares lol

I was thinking just all freaking black.

I'm not wasting my time or money on plasti-dip. I'm going straight to regular, permanent paint.

I was thinking about doing that, not sure how the green would look, but I can always try it first, I can't make these suckers anymore ugly than they already are lol.

I would do plasti-dip, but they'd need to be redone every week. I use the power washer type car washes, so I'm afraid they would't last for me.

Mine are going on months I go to the pressure car washes just for my rims rinse+foam brush everytime.
This is the most recent pick I have not the best but it proves the point.
Just don't try scrubbing plasti dip there's no need it cleans soooo easy.

i would look into powder coating... durable, gives a nice shine, and is usually around $40 a wheel...

On these ugly things?? lol I wouldn't take them even if they were free. However it may be worth it as I do plan on using them as winter set ups. I will hopefully have new shoes this coming winter.

I agree. mine have been on the original coat of plasti dip for a solid 4 months.. Washed many times. Just dont scrub like he said ^ But for at most $35 you cant beat it.. or just use a type of black spray paint (just make sure you do i right).
As for color, it seems like your going for that blacked out look which im a fan of.. id deff do black.

If you do plasti dip, just keep an extra can on hand incase you ger curb rash or anything, and when they get dirty, just sprat lightly with a garden hose

I don't know.if you like it but how about a gloss black with the purple on the gmc logos. GM used on the 05 Impala SS and equinox SS. I saw that color on a TB not to long ago and I looked Kool off course a woman was driving it lol wish I had a pic of the color to give you an idea of the color. Nope, no pinstriping at all, unless your counting the marks from shopping carts.

I agree, got any pictures/photoshop? I seen your work under the hood of the SS, but I'm not sure how it would look on the rims.

whatever you decide to do, i would have them re-rebalanced and have the weights put on the inside only.
that way if you ever get new tires, you won't have to touch up where the old weights were.

Not of a good job. Just a quick try to see if i liked it. And i did. Do to a medical problem i hav'nt done anymore but with hope i will soon.

When I painted mine, I left the outer aluminum exposed so there would be no problems with the paint getting scratched from tire changes, nor having the weights showing up. Here is the results of priming and painting my rims with spray-cans from Walmart...

Keep in mind that some tire shops will paint the weights black if you ask, but I think leaving the bright ring makes it look like a more expensive wheel.
