Hi Guys,
I tried this idea to freshen up the OEM wheels from the peeling clear coat.
- Use Lacquar Thinner for the initial cleaning.
- 120 Grit in a dual orbit sander for the spokes and edge of rim
- 150 Grit to roughen up the inside of the spokes
- The drill with the 2" wire brush works great to clean the edge of the rim and inside the spokes.
- Make a cardboard mask to protect the tires
- Stuff the spoke holes with paper towels
- Clean the surface with Rapid Prep or some kind of pre-paint cleaner, always pre-clean.
- Use KRYLON RUST TOUGH Enamel. I sprayed a couple coats.
- Clean up over spray with a rag, Lacquar Thinner and a putty knife.
- I didn't use any primer or clear coat so I don't know what's gonna happen but the wheels look like new.

Good luck,
Peter

That looks good. I should do mine but I'd go with a semi-gloss black just for a change. My spokes have slots in them that are painted grey which would make them harder to sand. Maybe I'd mask them so they would contrast with the black.
