Hi Guys- My son has a 2011 Silverado and getting the dreaded P0604 code. The ECU needs to be replaced. I am wondering what the cheapest scanner I could use to install the new ECU and do the programming. I also have a 2007 Tahoe and a 2014 Silverado so I would like to be able to use this on all three vehicles if needed. I would appreciate some ideas. I have tried to do some research but frankly it all confuses me. Would Tech 2 software still work on my 2014?

I was just looking on Ebay and all the Tech 2/TIS 2000 said they only cover up to 2007. Do you have any links?

The Tech 2 will work up to 2013. It's the Tis2000 computer software that will only work up 2007. You can use TDS online to program any modules after 2007 with it.

However, for future compatibility, recommend the MDI for your 2014 and beyond.

I don’t know if it has been (or will be) fixed but GM did a huge update. Old system was called SPS and now you have what they call Techline and SPS 2 is the new programming software.

The tech2 has not been working as a passthru device since the update.
