My truck is not an I6, it's a V8....

No seriously it's an I6 lol BUT....Hubby had a guy at work INSIST that the voy was the V8 because of the way it sounded. He kept insisting until hubby popped the hood and showed the guy proof that Phantom is NOT a V8. Mat had to explain that the reason it sounds like a V8 and not an I6 is because we cut the resonator off....

So sparky...What about the I6 sounding like a fart can or fart pipe  lol

I wish there was a meet sometime, I could show you all in person instead of in a lousy Android video.

yea, videos just don't do justice for exhaust clips... they give you an idea... but i'd be interested in hearing your exhaust as well... EVERY TB/Voy I've heard with a res delete is barely noticeable... unless they were the V8's

It's noticeable lol by a lot. And it's definitely an I6. I wonder if it sounds like a v8 cuz something in the exhaust is clogged? If so I will leave it clogged lol I love the way my truck sounds.

The big midwest meet next year is a MUST for us. I already told hubby lol. The only reason we didn't make it this year was due to wedding planning and of course being broke because of the wedding planning lol. I guess we can wait and do the exhaust work then so everyone can hear what it sounds like with just the res delete.

LOL that and it's our wedding day so I don't think we will make it guys. Its an 8 hour trip for us which wouldn't be bad if it wasnt on our wedding day.

Ah Yes, it will be here before we know it, and I cannot wait lol! And I'm sure there will be a few meets some what close by after the wedding. If we have to freeze our caliper's off to get there we will!

Are you certain you have the stock muffler? You bought it used so there is a good chance it does not and it just was not noticable until the res delete.... The stock muffler is about 4 foot long FYI.

Yep, I think that is very possible. I listened to my friends tb, stock muffler with res delete and it doesn't sound loud or have low tones at all. When I watched the video of Phantom I had to turn the bass down as the subs couln't take it. There is a big difference between the two sounds.

You know I never thought of that Kyle. It's possible that it isn't the stock muffler. Besides being 4' long, is there any other way to tell? Hubby says it's stock, but then again we argued for like a month over the "Resonator IS the muffler" thing lol

Now you got me wondering....:undecided:

Hence why you forgo the paint job and get another vehicle...I cant imagine leaving my wife trapped at home with the kid while at work. I usually have 1-3 vehicles at her disposal, just in case something unfortunate were to happen. I know there are neighbors and family, but the couple minutes difference between jumping in the car or finding a ride can be life or death...

I couldn't agree more Kyle. Hubby and I have discussed this a lot. Granted it's only 3 days a week, but emergencies and accident's are not biased about day, or time, or severity. With that said, him deciding what he wants to get will probably take just as long lol. We were going to get him a vehicle the beginning of this year when we got the Envoy, but he couldn't decide what he wanted, whether it was another SUV or a car, and what make/model he wanted. I understand completely about shopping around for the right price and right vehicle, but sometimes you need to cut your losses and just get a beater until you can figure out exactly what it is your wanting in a permanent vehicle.

I think I will have hubby start looking, that way when we are in the position to buy him a vehicle, it won't be a very long process. Phantom will be paid for at the beginning of next year, and then we can get him something(hopefully a TB or Envoy)

I'm actually glad you posted this, that way it doesn't appear to him that I am making a big deal out of nothing, simply because it is a big deal, especially with 4 kids.

I like the envoy but not getting another one. I need more then what it gives me. I like the latest and greatest and want more speed and luxury etc. my next car is more then likely a cts performance and after that a bad ass BMW or Audi hopefully

If I were to get another gmt it would be a tbss no doubt

It has speed, yes.....luxury not so much. Huge market for more speed tho. I don't care for luxury...so the SS fits me perfectly.

If you want a fast truck on a budget the TBSS would be perfect. The jeep srt-8 are way more expensive and so are other trucks that are on the faster side. I like the luxury in a car and that plus speed is my ideal car

There is no writing or anything on it. Dont know if any of the aftermarket ones have any logos or anything but this one does not. also to me it looks like it has been replaced because it has hardly any rust on it compared to the cat.
View attachment 22760

Then while under there i don't know it this is anything but the rubber mounts for the exhaust has rubber around them.
View attachment 22761

That and are our drive shafts made of aluminum or stainless steel? cause ours is pretty f ing shiny lol. a lot more than the one that goes to the front.

This is a name and a logo combined (DELPHI), and it's OEM. Maybe not original unit, but an OEM replacement. DELPHI is the new name for what used to be AC Delco.

Roadie that was on the cat. the cat has more rust than the muffler. you can see the difference from the cat side of the flange to the muffler side of it. from the manifold back its got some rust on it but the muffler side of it is pretty clean. So i dont know if it was replaced or not. I'm assuming so based on the rust, well lack there of.

The cat will oxidize (rust) more because it operates at a MUCH higher internal temperature than the muffler. The OEM muffler is stainless steel and will show almost zero rust even after 10 years... unless you're in the salt belt. Even then....not a lot.

OEM I6 muffler. Mine has raised lettering on both faces, including a manufacture date.

If you take off the muffler it does  Just taking off the resonator will not make it sound buzzy.

Mines got a res delete and dumped at the muffler. It sounds like nothing IMO,but I also drove a 468 BBC silverado on 54's before this so...lol
