Just wondering who else was looking to make it out to the auto show in a couple of weeks. This tread has been kindda quiet lately. We're still looking at the 20th.

I'm still planning on making it! May not be able to rendezvous with everyone else up at Great Lakes Crossing *unless my dad can get out of work a little early, in which case we can make it there*, but we'd be down for meeting up with everyone at the Auto Show. I know its still a few weeks to go, but I was curious where everyone else was planning on parking.

We always grab a spot in the Millender Center structure and take the people mover over

Most years, we've parked on the roof of Coba Hall as it's a convenient walk to the doors. Weekday parking during the day isn't so bad. Don't know what the parking charges will be this year though???

Darn school! :deadhorse: But on a more serious note, bummer some of you guys won't be able to make this one. I got lucky with my class schedule this quarter, so I only have classes Monday and Thursday. As for work, there really hasn't been any snow to plow yet...:duh:

ok here is the updated list for the 20th at Noon on the roof of Coba Hall. is this the right location?
Google Maps

1. jham (Jeff and family) can make any of the dates talked about
2. SSwannabe (Dave ) and SS member (Allen) again 21st or 22nd ... 22nd preferably "sorry guys no bounce house this time" :sadcry: lol
3. Busterbrown (Chris maybe with Family); Friday the 20th would be a better date for me.
4. Envoy4Life (Luke) Any day that weekend
5. Heepish (Eli and family); Preferably the 20th or 21st
6. 2004LS (Jay and +1); Fri 20th, or Sat 21st

Google Maps

Yeah, the entrance to roof parking is off W. Congress. This is the map from Cobo's site:

625 West Congress - Google Maps

I think parking is around $12 per vehicle. Admission tickets are $12 for adults.

We could, in fact, rendezvous in Greek Town, do lunch...then shuttle via the People Mover to Cobo Hall? I'd be game for that. Free parking by validating your parking ticket at the casino is always an incentive.

I'd suggest if anyone wants to do lunch before the auto show, we could in Greek town. And then shuttle over to Cobo afterwards. Just a brief stop in the casino to validate for free parking. Otherwise, we could just meet up on the roof at Cobo. Just suggestions as always...

Would they let people under 21 in the casino? And what time are we looking at? For me, it would have to be sometime after 3 o'clock.

I confirmed with Greektown Casino that they DO NOT allow minors to go through the casino. Minors would need to exit the garage at street level and walk around. :frown: I believe you can access the Greektown People Mover station from the street without having to enter the casino, but I'm not positive.

On a brighter note, I can get tickets for $9 at work.

So would a minor, such as myself, be able to eat at Greek town? I'm not familiar with the layout of their building. Also, were we planning to park at cobo and shuttle over to Greek town? Thats where I'm a little lost

I still plan on making it to the lunch meet and greet before we hit Cobo, and my parents will rendevous with the rest of us at the auto show. Dad works from 1:30AM to about noon, and he would rather go home first to change.

I'm confused too. I'm planning to be downtown by noon. I'll be parking in the Greektown garage. There's lots of places to eat on Monroe St, right when you exit the garage. Maybe 5 Guys Burgers or something sounds good to me! The People Mover is accessible from street level too, so any minors don't need to actually enter the casino (although I'm sure we will get any minors parking validated for them).

Perhaps we should validate the list of who's coming...

1. jham (Jeff and family) can make any of the dates talked about
2. SSwannabe (Dave ) and SS member (Allen) again 21st or 22nd ... 22nd preferably "sorry guys no bounce house this time" :sadcry: lol

5. Heepish (Eli and family); Preferably the 20th or 21st
6. 2004LS (Jay) *1 confirmed*

:iagree: This works best for me. There are tons of lunch opportunities within walking distance of the GT garages. Pizza Papalis, Fish Bones, and Pegasus are all options, including about 15 other places. If noon works for anyone attending, let's just decide on where to meet.

I was thinking that we should meet on the way there to see if everyone is there, and then proceed downtown.

Noon sounds great to me, count me in! The folks won't be making it to lunch, but will be there to walk around the auto show (driving separately, plus mom can take advantage of her free parking in the Millinder center). Pretty munch any restaurant sounds good to me, so I'll let you guys make that call

I see folks from Rochester Hills, Sterling Heights and I'm in Highland. Maybe we could meet somewhere on the I-75 cooridor in Troy or Madison Heights at 11:15 - 11:30, and convoy down together? Maybe Oakland Mall? Does that work for anyone?

So for sure Friday! I think you have a good idea, 2004LS. Oakland Mall sounds pretty good to meet at.
