Not sure how much bigger a filter you can get, there's not a lot of room with the filter that comes with the kit.

Me too but I got the chrome kit used and my filter is trashed. Seller didn't specify filter condition. So I figured id go with the larger filter... just curious how the performance will be good or bad with a a larger / longer filter ? I also modified my stock box top to go over the filter just incase rain doesnt got on it plus it baffles some of the sound.

I personally didnt like the airaid filter from the airaid cai, so I went with an AEM dryflow filter,

easier to clean and no oil

K&N and AEM joined forces to make a cleaner kit for AEM dryflow filters, it a nice size cleaner and will last a long time

Maybe avoid the K&N since they let more dirt in. Since you need a new filter you can get one that actually filters.

Ok, so if I understand this correctly the consensus of this board is that K&N air filters do increase air flow but sacrifice the ability to properly filter the air into the engine. Is this just the come filters or does this include the drop in filters as well?

I thought I read that even if you use the dry cover on the K&N you still have to oil the filter but I'm not 100% sure on that.

Google Cold Air Intake and there are a few options that have a dry filter option. Anyone on this board use a dry filter, cold air induction?

That mesh cover is to keep the big chunks from clogging the filter.

I had a K&N on a truck and it destroyed my MAS. The 03 TB doesn't have MAS but I think with the trottle body issues they have it couldn't be good to get that thing covered with red sticky goo.

I coulda swore the red oil goes on the outside...iv used k&n on all my dirt bikes, go peds go karts...iv never had a problem. To each his own I guess.. tho aem is going to be my filter for the tb. Just so everyone is happy.

I am running the 21-204dk aem filter on my airaid intake. I hope you dont have any clearance issues seeing that the filter you chose is 3" taller than mine.

21-2038DK - AEM , AEM DryFlow Air Filter

VS

21-204DK - AEM , AEM DryFlow Air Filter

Took a pic of so you can get a visual:
