Is a Genuine Tech2 worth it

I have seen some decent deals on used genuine tech2 scanners on eBay in the past and was wondering if it would be worth getting one if I see a deal in the future?
(Screenshot of one I saw a while back but presume has sold since)

For special function access... Maybe...

But I am honestly leaning towards products like the Autel, or others that cost about the same amount, but cover a lot more vehicles, and newer vehicles. The Tech2 ends service life at 2012.

All depends on what problem you are trying to solve. That said, I would be very careful (read: skeptical) about any Tech2 that I could not confirm was genuine prior to purchasing.

General Motors (GM) and ACDelco have enforced security measures that block counterfeit or clone diagnostic tools—including knock-off Tech 2 scanners and cloned MDI/J2534 devices—from accessing the ACDelco TDS and Techline Connect systems. When you attempt to use these devices for SPS (Service Programming System), the server detects the unauthorized hardware or firmware, resulting in locked accounts and error messages.

Genuine & Ebay is all too frequently an oxymoron.

It's outdated and limited up to 2013. There are Autel type scanners that can do almost as much and not year or manufacturer crippled. In fact, another discussion talked about scanners for less than that antique.

Best bidirectional tool for under $500?

But, if you are dealing exclusively with older GM iron, it could be worth it. I still use my Tech 2 clone, which is sufficient for me, because I have had it for many years. But I did have to buy something else to work on my 2021 Sierra. I'd pass on it.
