General Grabber STX

I need a new set of basic, all-season tires. Anyone out there ever used these tires, or know of anyone who did? I can get a set at Walmart mounted and balanced for around $500.

I can't say anything about the STX, but I just bought a set of 265/65-17 HTS series and I love them! They got great ratings on a couple of sites and I ended up buying them from Tirebuyer.com. They had a $30 coupon at the time and the $50 rebate just ended on the 15th. After figuring in the rebate, final total was $593 including tax and with free shipping.

From a quick poke around the interweebs, the STX is made by GG and almost exactly the same as the HTS. It's just a Wal-Mart private label tire. Couldn't find any decent reviews on the tire though.

I have a set of these on my 03 ext. I haven't had them long but they ride good and they are good in the rain. This winter we will see how they do.

I have the grabber hts on my tb and they are holding up quite well after about 20-30k on them. My advice would be to steer clear of walmart unless you enjoy waiting for hours...
