Gear whine - how much is normal?

Not sure how normal it is for TB drivetrain to whine, but is it normal to hear some whine noises? like when your driving down an ally or in a drive through line where you can really hear the noises echo back to you. Its not really loud (or bad sounding), but its definitely there, a whiney humming.

I have checked my tranny fluid, and that seems good. I pulled the front driver side tire and checked the front differential fluid, and that is right to the top.

This whine is at low speed? Does it vary with the engine? Check the power steering fluid and pump.

My diff didn't whine even when the oil was down to the bottom of the cv axle shaft...

I had a whining on decel or rolling down a hill from my rear end last year. Noise could be heard with radio off and windows up anywhere. It was the gears clashing and I kept blowing off replacing the ring and pinion. Finally the rear end decided to blow me off by launching the left bearing cap into the cover...
