Have a Trailblazer LS 2005 with Gu6 3.42 Front Differential which I am changing out.
So then what is easiest way or hardest? 1. Drop Oil pan & Rack, 2. Jack engine after removing mounts and jack to the passenger side
or 3. drain water, remove bat & tray, alternator hoses, thermostat & pull aside A/C compressor and pull diff up to the top?
Have read all three ways just curious of which do you advise. Thanks

Thanks for that link djthumper, lots of good info there.

I like that method better than anything I've seen or heard about so far...I definitely don't want to pull the oil pan.

Here's the easiest way I see it, http://forums.offroadtb.com/viewtopic.php?f=72&t=4447&start=140#p89360

I believe this thread has a decent write-up for the swap. offroadTB.com - View topic - Big plans for the heavy chevy

Just don't install the outer seal in backwards like the one in the pic :duh:

Yeh, I think I like that method even better...bringing it out the bottom and no pulling the oil pan.

Guess I would replace the 3 seals (diff @ oil pan, diff @ drivers CV and pinion seal). Is there any other seals or anything else I should do while I have the diff out?

From past experience...the best way is to get someone else to do it.:raspberry:
