sorry-not sure if I'm posting in the right section. I'm looking to buy a floor jack. I see many jacks have max lift heights ranging from around 18" to around 21 or 22". I don't want to buy a jack and then have to use 2x4's to add to the height to get the truck up in the air. Will a jack with max height of 19.25" lift it without having to add wood?

Are you lifted, stock or lowered?

My tbss sits pretty low and I just bought a Pittsburg 3 ton floor jack for $ 90. Slides fine under truck and lifts with ease.

I have that same set and, like Roadie asked, if you're not lowered or lifted it works fine.

You'll be fine at stock height. just make sure you buy a jack that can lift your truck. 3 ton minimum.

I use a 2 ton jack and a 2.5 ton jack all the time. I do not even have a bigger one since the seal went out on my old one. Never had issues with either kifting my heavy ass truck. The whole truck doesn't weigh 3 tons and a single floor jack can not lift the whole truck.

I shouldve added in my statement ..."this is what I would get minimum"

Why? Do you know something I don't about jacks, because I need to justify a bigger jack to the wife.

Got 2 floor jacks, HI Lift, couple bottle jacks, but still trying to understand the 3 ton minimum on our trucks.

I know which jack you bought , but it doesnt go as low or as high the Pittsburg 2.5 one I got. The 3 ton would not fit under my Impala with its 5 inch collapsed height.
