I'm more worried about water intrusion, than the modifications tho. The old ones I had the rubber caps on. I may get a local place to manufacture new longer caps. we will see. I love the light. Much better than the old style.

it didn't really bother me as these were $50 aftermarket housing bought off of Amazon.
I wouldn't worry too much about water intrusion. I haven't had caps on my low beam buckets since I did my projector retrofit as the original caps wouldn't go on there anymore and I never got around to buying rounded caps. I haven't had a hint of water inside the housings and I've driven through some really heavy rain.

I think the openings on the headlights are covered pretty well from rain, it's dust from dirt roads I'd worry about, around here at least.

Even if you get a few drops of water in, it should freely evaporate through the same whole it came in through.

Dust... good point I didn't think of that. I do have some dead gnats in the bottoms of my housings :blinkhuh:

Capote had a frog that one time... :rotfl:

And Manns had a moth.

Back on topic tho, anyone got output shots yet? :salivate:

I'd like to see old version vs. new version from those that upgraded.

I can say that cooling is a big deal for these. Any high power LED chip will heat up and that needs to be kept cool for longevity. (you could always put a spash guard under them to keep any possibility of water splashing up)

I haven't had my caps on for over 3 years now with no problems and I have driven in a few rain deluges in that time.

There are a few shots on Face Book from Terry McDaniel

I wanted to let peeps know I have started compiling a list of names who want these and which bulb type so I can sort of roll with it gradually and not get snowballed.
I've gotten some indications from about 15 now that say they are interested.

as of thursday night 2/26 I have made a deposit on 25 sets for preorders to get this ball rolling. Niki is now back in the office and communicating. The factory will be back up and running on Monday and I will now start taking orders/payments for these sets of Phillips Luxeon 9000 lumen LED sets which come in these types. There will most likely be a backlog in productions so I do not have an exact timeframe yet on how long it will take to get these into the US. My thoughts are mid March. My paypal is kdhwiz@aol.com
Price is $110 per set
these are the different sets available
H1
H3
H4
H7
H8
H10
H11
H13
H16 5202
9004
9005
9006
9007
880
881
D2S

This will be a monthly ongoing ordering of sets as demand warrants. So if you don't get in on this one there will be another in April.

How well would these new ones work in projectors if at all?

If they're like the first edition that Kev sold, not very well, they don't have 360° of light output because they are mounted on a post.

I've added an inline pic to Kevin's previous post.

Kevin, you may wanna adjust your Photobucket settings so you can post the image code, instead of just a link to your album. :twocents:

Both of my headlight bulbs blew today within 10 minutes of each other.
I am running on a $21 set of bulbs I picked up in the meantime...
The "meantime" meaning until I can get some LED headlights.

I have been in touch with Kevin aka DFWWIZ but I have not decided on what lumen I want.
These are the low beams, so I do not want to blind people with them. I don't want to be like that guy with the poorly-aimed HIDs burning-out everyone's retinas.
3600 lumen seems like too much. That leaves 1800 or 2400, which are both still bright.

I live in a rural area, but it can be hilly, so I don't want to blind other motorists.
What brightness would you all recommend?

Dont forget the lumen output of Kevin's LED headlights is per headlight. The Crees are 7200 lumen and Philips are 9000 lumen total. I am running his 7200 lumen LEDs in my hi beams and they are very bright.

Do a projector retro or contact Aarkon and call it a day  Either way, without a retro you will always be "that guy".

Lights came in yesterday and now today they will start shipping out to everyone.

I did have a small glitch in the order where the count was off - I got 2 extra sets of 9006 and short 2- 880 fog sets so hopefully I can work this out with a couple peeps where there will be a delay in fogs only. Its almost a nightmare trying to keep everything straight when you get 2 forums and several facebook groups ordering and not all are understanding procedures.

I'm still needing an address for Donnie Ratledge if anyone knows who that is. I emailed him via his paypal address with no repsonse.

I have now started up the 3rd group buy for these lights. I have about 12 sets on preorder and 5 or 6 paid for now. I'm leaving this open all week or until I get to 40 sets again and will make a deposit to Niki at the factory mid week to get it rolling-I can add on to the order as we go. These are made per my order and then shipped to me so its probably about April 10 when they arrive here and I begin to ship out to everyone. This is posted alos on the various TBSS groups on facebook and the TBSSowners forum so I do get hit every which way to Sunday with pms, emails, messages, texts. PRICE: $110 a set PAYPAL: kdhwiz@aol.com (also its my email addy)
These do take a little trimming of the holes on the back of the headlights to fit in the socket-nothing major but just an FYI

The next group by will take place the week of May 3rd once I get back from Bowling Green TBSS Nationals. I do already have one person who paid for a low beam set as he is on an off shore drilling rig off the African west coast and didn't want to have to rememember later on.

Just so I understand correctly these new ones use amp type connectors between the driver and bulb like a Hid setup? Also I'm assuming the H4 bulbs are single beam only correct?

The Philips hook up just like the Crees you have now. Yes, they are ALL single beam.

There are dual beams with these aka 9003, 9004, 9007, H13. Its kind of strange how they did it though with power to one side on low and both sides for high with 2 chips on each side.

I am starting this group buy a little early since I will be heading to Bowling Green for TBSS Nats on April 30 and have already taken a couple payments from guys who wanted in early. I will close it on April 29th which is a week from wed to finalize orders. The factory also has a holiday May 6-8 so this way I can get the order started with deposit and a few sets to get the ball rolling.

110 sets sold to day since late January. Retail is $150-200 my price is $110
paypal is kdhwiz@aol.com
Phillips Luxeon 9000 lumen LED sets 45 watts (25 watts for H1 and 880 with 2 chips)

I'll be starting another group buy by next weekend. I have just a couple sets left now from this past GB. I also have bumper plates in the initial stage of analysis- being measured and CNC programmed to be machined shortly. I'm still waiting on confirmation of doing ones with out SS-lines only across-for Envoys and reg TBs with the full bumpers in back. Lots of irons in the fire!
