Looked for a while and did not see a thread than answered this question. Perhaps I missed it.
Intermittently on acceleration from a stop it sounds like the engine fan spins very fast (the typical jet engine sound I've read about) and it seems to delay the transmission shift into the next gear quit a while. I'm thinking till about 2,500 + RPMs Feels like a loss of power as well.
Fan does not feel lose. Has resistance that feels consistent and good. Spins about 1/5 of a rotation when hand spun.
This 03 Trailblazer LS I6 2WD was purchased a few weeks ago with 131K miles. Need it to last as the primary family vehicle for about 2 years while we save for a newer one.
1. Any ideas on the fan noise in conjunction with the transmission shift delay?
2. I've read that changing fluids especially in the transmission late in the game can cause problems but also read from people on this site that obviously know more than I that it is a must when acquiring a used vehicle you don't know the history of. I'm guessing that the philosophy here is that you go ahead and do it and if problems arise then deal with them too under the theory that you have a vehicle in tip top shape in the end? Oil of course changed and fluids topped off.
For those of you who may recognize the screen name, all other problems have been resolved thanks to this site/ you. Lose ground fixed a myriad of issues and blower motor resistor replaced to gain all settings back on the dial. Also, cleaning the throttle body had a noticeable impact on idle when the AC is turned on.
Thank you.
