Hey guys and gals.
I'm working on an 06 envoy Denali 5.3 LH6 and had a crankshaft question.
I want to know if there is some sort of difference and what it is between the 2006 and 2007 crank sensors. There is a different 3 pin connector. One is black and the other white. They seem to be the same design with exception of different connector ...
Oh and shame on AC Delco for sending me the 70$ sensor thinking I'm getting a "Made in America" part only to see "China" is the only think written onto the part. .smh

IINM, in 2007 the crank went to the 58x reluctor wheel. The 4.2 did that in 2008.

Curious results in service literature:

2006 5.3 appears to say the connector is white and a description says 24 pulse :

2007 shows early and late productions, both gray and I can find no description about pulse count :

2008, shows gray also, again no pulse count to be found:

As of now I can't get the crankshaft position sensor relearn process to go through and it's running and seeming to drive okay but it still throwing the code for the relearn procedure to be done

I remember reading a notation that it may require up to like 5 attempts? Anyone else see such a note?

There are no other codes set when you try the learn, correct??

That's the only one. I am assuming that I'm performing the test correctly. I'm using an Autel im508s and it states to not press the brake pedal but set the emergency brake toggle the key from off to on and then press the brake pedal and crank the engine and let it idle but it's like the scanner is not picking up that the engine is cranking because it still states to crank and let idle when the vehicle is already crunk

Are you saying in 2006 the sensor was 24x? If so then that's possibly why I have problem. Installed sensor is out of an 07 5.3.

Looking at the following link under "what this fits" I don't see many 2007 applications.

I had looked up the sensors on RA and there was a change in 07 so yeah, the 07 sensor probably won't work.

I switched out the 07 sensor and put back the 06. I originally had a helluva electrical issue which is the reason I changed it in the first place. Turned out to be the fuse box. The 06 sensor seems to be doing the trick....however last night I have a new problem. Switched into 4Lo and now it won't switch back..yay me
