I put my sensor in the coolant tube with and adaptor between radiaor and t-stat. I think Flexalite sells one of those as well.

Are you sure that's a good spot to put the sensor? I put mine in the outlet which is the top hose. This gives the actual engine temp. Hot coolant flows from the engine through the top hose into the radiator, then out the radiator through the bottom hose, through the thermostat and into the engine with the cooled coolant.

I'm not sure. Did a lot of reading about it and where to place it. The instructions said in the bottom of the radiator core, didn't seem practical. I'm thinking that the t-stat regulates the flow to keep the engine at operating temp and the sensor output to the fan controller to make sure the coolant that leaves the radiator is cool enough to provide sufficient cooling of the engine.

If the sensor is placed at the outlet from the engine it will always be reading a higher temp and the fans will run more often even if the coolant is cool enough.

Maybe I'm totally off on this so more input on where to place it would be nice.

I have the Flexalite fan controller and it's working great and came with good instructons. The feature to let them come on gradually is also nice to not load the alternator too much instantly. I really recommend it.

I think the most important thing is to find fan(s) that can five you enough mass flow under all situations. I've experienced that my cheap fans don't pull enough during heavy load or hot summer days at no forward motion.

What set of fans are you running?

I use two 14" noname fans rated 800 m^3/h. No shroud at the moment. Fans are mounted flush to the radiator and they cover about 75% of the area. Performance fans and a good working shroud would make the difference for me I guess.
