Hi !

I'm about to change my front rotors/pads and I need to know the best combination of rotors and pads for heavy towing (6000 lbs)

I'm looking right now at NAPA's best but still need towers opinion. (Ultra Premium slotted)

Thank you.

6000lb's is a bit outside of the limit for these vehicles isn't it?
Dependent upon the rear axle ratio, but 6,000 is within limits.

Just my :twocents:, and I don't know your wheel size, but an upgrade to the larger front rotors and pads of the extended trucks is probable the best option.

I think (without looking it up, but someone will probably correct me) the wheels need to be 17"; of course, you have electric on the trailer.

Yes if you swap to the LWB/SWB 5.3 setup with 12.8" brakes you'll have to run 17" or larger wheels. Stock on OP's truck is 12" discs.

For those wondering, the towing capacities for the OP's TB are as follows:

4WD Trailblazer L6 engine 3.42 axle = 5,100 lbs trailer, 10,000 lbs GCWR
4WD Trailblazer L6 engine 3.73 axle = 5,500 lbs trailer, 10,500 lbs GCWR
4WD Trailblazer L6 engine 4.10 axle = 6,100 lbs trailer, 11,000 lbs GCWR

I would expect the OP has trailer brakes and a W-D hitch as well.

I have all the stuff needed to tow this big travel trailer exept braking power. So I really need to know the best to put on my TB so I wont pass true red lights with brake pedal on the floor.

It is braking but they are almost done so I need to change them.

Thanks.

My trucks sales sheet says 5,750#. I6, 3.42 gears, no g80, upgraded suspension package.

My numbers are pulled from the 2004 Owner's Manual. It doesn't say anything about the availability of an "upgraded suspension package" but that would likely be the reason you have a different rating than the manual lists.

As to the OP's original question, I've used the Napa rotors before with good result. I try to steer clear of the cross drilled stuff because I see many of them crack near the holes.

My previous reply drew an incorrect conclusion. I realize this is an old thread but I wanted to clear things up for anyone looking in for data in the future. The difference in the numbers is because they are representing different things.

The 5750 on the blazinlow89's sales sheet is the vehicle's GVWR, not its towing capacity. Below is the RPO code info, I found three different quoted GVWR values:

C4D GVWR, 5550 lbs. (2517 kg)
C5N GVWR, 5750 lbs. (2608 kg)
EB1 GVWR, 6001 lbs. (2722 kg)
