this morning i somehow managed to bend my drivers side liftgate strut.
it has been squeaking for the last couple of weeks.
this morning when i opened it, i noticed no squeak,
when i went to close it, this happened.
i had already had a new strut on order w/ dealership.
(covered under extended warranty)
it also messed up the top strut connection post.
has anyone else had this happen?

Wow. I had to replace both of mine a few months back because they leaked out. I can imagine with the weight of the liftgate that if one of the struts had seized that this could be possible. I was shocked at how heavy it is.

Never heard of any similar incident in my time on the four forums. Shocking in a late model.

as i said, it had been squeaking.
that top mounting post was pretty loose.
i was able to tighten that up, after removing that side cover, w/ 10mm socket on the outside and a 12mm open end on the inside.
wonder with that post being loose, did that cause the srtut to fail ?
