Are OEM speaker wires okay with aftermarket HU n speakers?

I helped my friend install speakers into an 06 Sierra last night (he also has a 03 TB) and have a couple questions. It's a factory non bose unit with a 6.5 speaker in each rear door and a 6.5 speaker and a tweeter in each front door. He is replacing with a Clarion 602 HU and Clarion SRG1622R 6.5 speakers in the rear doors and Clarion SRQ1622S 6.5 speaker with separate component tweeter that wires up to it, in the front doors.

I noticed the OEM rear door speakers are 8 ohm and each side has the same color wires being Yel- Bro+, I read wire diagrams that say right rear should be Dark Blue- Light Blue + and he doesn't have those. Meanwhile the front speakers are 4 ohm, Left is Grey- and Tan+, right is Dark Green- Light Green+. Tweeter wires are same color as speaker, right Dark Green- Lt green+, left Grey- Tan+.

Questions are, if both rear speakers are same color wires are they mono and in series, and not in stereo? Is that why they are 8 ohm? Is it okay to have the 2 new 4 ohm speakers connected to these wires?

When we hook up the front Clarion door speakers we are putting the component tweeters up in the corners of the windshield, these tweets wire directly to the Clarion speaker. With those Clarions installed that way is it still okay to plug in the factory tweeters in as well?

Or should we consider running all new speaker wires. There is no amp being installed at this time.

Any advice is welcome.

It doesn't matter what ohms the speakers are. You will not need to replace the wires due to impedance of the speakers. The only time you would need to change the wires would be if you are running a substantial amount of power through them and need thicker wires or if the current wires are corroded or destroyed.

As for the colors of wires, that's just done for coordination purposes. All factory head units run in stereo and each "door" operates on its own, not in series or parallel. Series and parallel are really only used for subwoofer connections, not tweeters and midrange (unless you really really have to).

So it would be alright to also use the factory tweeters with the factory connectors in the front doors? We're gonna put the HU in tonight and see how well that goes.

Absolutely. The head unit would only be pushing out about 27 watts per speaker RMS, 50 watts peak and the factory wires can easily handle those loads.
