I am about to order new tires. I am ordering the cooper AT3's. Instead of the stock 245/65/17, I was thinking I may step up to a 255/65/17 . Anyone have any pictures? I was wanting to see how it filled up the wheel well. My envoy is a bone stock 4wd short wheel base.

I'm planning on getting a set of at3's in 255/65/17 installed this weekend on my ext. I'll post some picts though I doubt the extra 1/2" dia will be that noticeable.

Thats not that much bigger of a tire, doubt many people will have pics of it. Going from a 29.5" tire to a 30.1" tire isnt that much different but it will fill out the wheelwells a little more.

If you want to spend a little more, go with 265/65R17 and get a little more width this is going to be about as big and wide of a tire you can run without needing wheel spacers. Or 245/70R16 and get more height, personally Id rather have the extra width AND height but thats me.

yes, I thought about those but I dont want to chance them not fitting. I know they should fit, and lots of people run them, but for some reason my Envoy looks like it sits lower than most Ive seen. Ive parked next to people I work with that have 4wd trailblazers and mine seems to be quite a bit lower. Ive never measured, but its pretty obvious. More width is what I am mainly after. I like tires that sit flush with the fenders. I know that will never happen without new wheels or spacers, but I can try to get as much as I can with the stockers.

Here are picts of the old and new AT3 255/65/17's.

I know a lot of members run 265's on the stock wheels but I'm still a little leery of running them aired down so before I go bigger I 'm going to get 8" rims. When I do my lift ( which is pushed back again) I'll replace these tires.

thanks a lot for the pics. Just makes me want to bite the bullet and order mine. I think they are only on sale (rebate) for a few more days.

Yeah, that's what pushed me to get them this weekend, $75 rebate for 4. That, and with Sandy about to hit, fishing is probably ruined for the season, so it would have been a lousy day to hit the beach.

Yes, I wish my local tire stores could come close to the prices online. I know it takes a lot more overhead to run a store, and I try to support them as much as I can. But when we are talking hundreds of dollars its hard to swallow. I think after the rebate and shipping, its gonna cost about 510 to my door for those tires. Figure a little bit for mounting balancing, stems, I probably will come in close to 575 out the door.
