Maybe 5 miles of off road, 4x4 high, 5 mph driving. Total of 243 miles, mostly freeway driving 70-80 mph. I thought 17.7 wasn't too bad. I have the 3.42 diff.

Any thoughts?

That's pretty high. Is this calculated or from the DIC? Most people are around 16 MPG without off roading. 70-80 MPH is not an ideal speed for efficiency.

Although I haven't logged my gas in here in a while, this is what I used to get:

Hi Mooseman,
Calculated old school way. Filled up tank till pump shut off. Double checked with a small top off and it promptly shut off again.

Didn't want to flood my charcoal canister so considered it good

Zeroed my Trip A. Drove 243.8 miles. Went to same station, same pump. Topped off again in similar manner. 13.8 gallons

17.67 mpg if my college degree help with anything!😀😄

I was pleasantly surprised. I know I can eek a few more mpg if I slow down. I just wanted to keep it consistent with my regular driving when I do this desert trip a few times a year.

The only change is I switched to the Valvoline 5w/30 full syn. Restore and Protect and have about 1500 miles on it.

That's pretty good since most people complain getting much less. I even pulled the roof rack off of mine to eek out another .05 MPG. Next will be spare tire delete. It's original (18 years old) and mostly driven in town with CAA available.
