Yeah, those u joints have seen better days, thats for sure.
Knock on wood, the joints in my 2017 3500 have been good. Also glad it has the single piece aluminum driveshaft.
Dropped off the 2 piece driveline this morning at 8 a.m. They called me an hour later and said was done. By 10:45, had the drivelines home and installed and road tested.
Ongoing 2 piece driveshaft problems on a neighbors 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 crew cab 5.7 gas engine. Not to long ago the carrier bearing came completely apart but the shop that did that work did...
I did a round trip this weekend to see my aging parents and one of my brothers. Was a worthwhile trip. Helped out around the house and a great visit. I took the WL Grand Cherokee and it...
Went to Oakridge, OR today for my favorite biscuits and gravy and Wagon Grease and we went down by the rapids and I shot a pic and video thru the thick trees. I am gonna also try to post some...
Ran around like a blue arsed fly today.
Headed out at 8:30 this morning to get the grocery shopping done before the crowds descend. Headed north to pick up a driver shaft I had a different...
Ran some errands this morning. They want to have level 2 background checks done for staff at work, so went and got my finger printing done while I was out. Stopped by Harbor Freight for a couple...
The work went as planned. The engine air filter had some pine needles and straw on it and in the air box and because of the MAF sensor location, had to remove the air box top for access and the...
On tap for today: 2022 Nissan Pathfinder with the 3.5 engine.

Truck here at 11 and got started. Old one off and back together with the new one was a 2 hour job. Old stuff fought coming apart. Then had to make adjustments to new one to get close to same old...
I went and pissed around on the WL Grand Cherokee in Sunday. Did a battery reset as a last resort. No dice. The battery is under the driver seat and actually not that bad to deal with. I found...
As I have talked about before, I still turn wrenches in my driveway. I did an upper intake teardown and spark plugs/coils replacement on a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.6 on Monday and today I am...
Got my 9-7x Aero Frame a full descale, passenger frame rail patch and frame rot fixed and a couple holes on the driver side as well as coated with Fluid Film yesterday
Some of many pictures
Well, took the head off that motor. Not even the head is salvageable. Looks like the connecting rod just decided to leave the chat. The other cylinder looks perfect. No idea if it was over...
My wife got me 4 ramps many years ago, just for this purpose.
Today I did a tear down and service on the 2021 Grand Cherokee with about 84,000km. Went well, for the most part. The brakes came...
For the recheck, if you have a level surface and 4 ramps, put the truck in 4x4 and ramp it up on all 4 wheels. Done that many times. Almost like having a lift.
I have read that some people don't do the "on blocks " run though the gears procedure, they do the fill, check level when running and then go for a short drive and recheck the level . I'm tempted...
@northcreek the zf process to check fluid level is fairly involved but it seems it could have been made much easier with a dipstick and fill tube. The hemi trucks have absolutely deplorable...
I bet during the tear down process and seeing rust, you were praying that it came apart better than the last time. Then you thanked The GODS when it did. I used to live in a "salt on the roads"...
Funny, I just bought the Pan/filter and fluid to do the ZF8 in my GC, there is quite a procedure to it and I'm a little hesitant to start the process until I read up a little more on it.
I worked on my daughter's 2020 Ram 1500 classic today. Bought used with 85,000km. I did the full break down and inspection. It went way, way, WAY better than our other 1500. Everything came...
Just a quick follow up on Post #2,498 about dealing with "The Parts-People" down in Texas after the purchase of the Cooling Pipe-Fans set up and a Heads Up to BEWARE purchasing ANY Portable...
Today helped my sledding buddy disassemble a sled that he bought with a blown motor. Sad really as the sled itself was in great shape. The PO had no idea why it blew but he did say that he had...
Well, as things change out here, we decided that we are going to sell our little 2004 Escape 3.0. The wheel bearing I replaced sounds like its going bad. This was an expensive SKF and unsure why...
