A couple times in the past 3 or 4 years after I've driven let's say 40 miles, parked with engine off for let's say 30 minutes and restarted I look at the gauges and see the oil, gas, temp and maybe the volt meter isn't registering. I say maybe on the volt meter because it's showing 14 volts but doesn't move enough to tell if it's actually working. However I'm assuming the alternator wasn't charging because the battery light was on. As well as "check gages" and "security" light. Speedometer, tach, lights, radio and ac blower all work. AC compressor wasn't because the air wasn't cooled..... and vehicle drives normally. Also my Scanguage wasn't powered so I couldn't check for any codes.
I can shut off and restart and all is OK. No CEL or stored codes.
The common element..... Winslow Arizona. Both times. Never happened before so maybe one of those Sedona vortexes stray thru Winslow! The BNSF railroad has a presence in Winslow and I've wondered if they have some radar unit associated with their operation..... however the electronics in modern day vehicles are hardened against this type of interference. Just strange!
By the way this isn't an indictment against Winslow. We live about 40 miles south during the summer and do most of our routine shopping there.

Winslow's "Standin' on the Corner" park (actually a street corner) was about a block away!
Next time I'm taking my tinfoil hat .
