why is the oil drain plug 19 ft/lbs?

...on my 2006 Trailblazer.

I mean is there that much difference between 19 & 20...or 18 & 19 ft/lbs? Or did GM know that my wrench 'starts' at 20 ft/lbs? :tongue:

If they rounded it up to 20, the engineers thought you might not respect their design skills as much as if they made it 19. We're lucky they didn't publish it as 19.2 and void the warranty if they could prove you exceeded it. :eek:

I thought they did all the calculations in N-M.


that doesn't help. metric spec is 26 N-m
