The thing is super britttle and broke when I was changing the belt so it needs replacement

Pretty sure that's the camshaft position sensor.

Thanks for the replies! After closer inspection it looks like the thing has been broken and glued before. My step mother now informs me its had two front end collisions and the fan clutch has been replaced twice. Likely it was broken before. I ended up reglueing the sensor with some adhesive and its working properly now

Why not just buy a new one? It's super easy to replace and costs less than $30 at any parts store.

More than likely, what broke was the 90 deg connector. NBD if that breaks, it's just there to keep the harness out of the fan. I agree that superglue is a proper fix (epoxy would be better). Pretty sure that part is not separately serviceable, otherwise.
