What the heck is this?

Morning People
I have a 2004 Envoy with a 6 Cyl engine. i have noticed a fuel odor lately and traced it to this in the engine compartment. locate towards the front of the engine. i'm not sure what it is. i wipe it off and it immediately gets covered again with fuel when running. any thoughts?

I'm thinking that it's part of the fuel pressure regulator? I'm not 100% so maybe someone else can chime in, but that's my suggestion.

You have a bad fuel pressure regulator, the only cure for that is replacing it. If I recall its about $50 on rockauto.com but may be cheaper elsewhere.
